Benjamin E. Myers, Founding Member
A 23-year veteran of distressed bank assets and debt instruments, Mr. Myers created SMS Financial in 1993. He has extensive experience in banking including asset management, commercial portfolio transactions, sealed bid offerings and structured transactions throughout the United States. Mr. Myers directs SMS Financial’s strategic planning and investor relations. He manages a portfolio of large balance assets and assists senior asset managers in the recovery of their portfolios. Mr. Myers holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Arizona.

Jonathan D. Harris, Member
A Member of SMS Financial since 1993, Mr. Harris has expertise in litigation management, acquisitions and due diligence. A veteran of the real estate industry, his extensive experience in marketing, leasing and contract negotiations allows him to focus on the settlement and litigation of larger balance and complex assets. Mr. Harris holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Arizona.

Jonathan D. Hoffer, Managing Member
Mr. Hoffer joined SMS Financial in 1998 and manages the day-to-day operations including acquisitions, staffing, financial oversight and planning, investor relations and corporate governance. In addition to his management duties, Mr. Hoffer oversees settlement negotiations and coordinates his own portfolio of large balance and complex assets. Mr. Hoffer has extensive experience in commercial real estate and due diligence management. Mr. Hoffer holds a bachelor’s degree in business management from Arizona State University.

Daniel S. Shorr, Director of Acquisitions
As Director of Acquisitions, Mr. Shorr focuses on acquisitions and new business development opportunities for SMS Financial. Mr. Shorr has experience managing portfolios of secured and unsecured debt, litigation oversight, foreclosure management, settlement negotiations and real estate liquidation. His background is in business development for multinational companies as well as business expansion in Mexico, South Africa and South Korea. Mr. Shorr holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from University of Rhode Island and an MBA with an emphasis in finance from Bryant University.
